ALPSP is conducting a second survey of journal publishers. The new survey asks questions about their access policies, among other things. Quoting the announcement:
Since publication of the original survey [in July 2003] the market has continued to change. The ALPSP Learned Journals Collection has provided small publishers with the opportunity to participate in large-scale consortia licences. Pay-per-view has developed as an important revenue generator. The Open Access debate has become a major factor governing publishing policy, combining a threat to conventional subscription-based repositories. The new survey will update the data available in the first survey, and will be based on a broad, representative range of commercial, society and university press academic journal publishers, both not-for-profit and commercial. The findings from the new survey, to be carried out in the second half of 2005, will be published by ALPSP in February 2006. Journal Publishers are invited to take part in this survey. I recommend the OA tracking project (OATP) as the best way to stay on top of new OA developments. You can read the OATP feed on a blog-like web page or subscribe to it by RSS, email, or Twitter. You can also help build the feed by tagging new developments you encounter.
