E-mail Access Validation

What is This?
E-mail Access Validation is a human-interaction step to divert spam bots from collecting e-mail addresses posted on our Web site.

Why Does it Exist?
The E-Mail Access Validation process is implemented as a step to keep the e-mail addresses of the Earlham community safe from e-mail harvesters. E-mail harvesters, or spam bots, are programs that traverse the web searching for e-mail addresses. The addresses found are added to lists, then used by or sold to companies who send unsolicited, mass e-mail advertising commonly known as spam.

Translation:
To reduce the amount of Spam sent to Earlham E-mail addresses, we have created this simple process to avert harvesting on our site.

Warning: date(): It is not safe to rely on the system's timezone settings. You are *required* to use the date.timezone setting or the date_default_timezone_set() function. In case you used any of those methods and you are still getting this warning, you most likely misspelled the timezone identifier. We selected the timezone 'UTC' for now, but please set date.timezone to select your timezone. in /home/groups/webteam/www/content/resources/eav/info.php on line 113
