[PAU] SVM Rework

PAU had a kink with its mirrored boot disks the other day. I ended up taking everything back to raw cXtXdXsX devices for the first disk, setting everything to the mid-Jumpstart mount points, and then re-running the SVM encapsulation script again. One side effect of this is that it now has the same SVM device numbering structure as LAFI and LUMANA.

[General] Time zone updates

As Indiana is observing Daylight Savings Time for the first time in 30+ years this weekend, we have had to update all the time zone settings for the servers. All servers are observing the new rules for Indiana time that have DST starting on April 2, 2006.

  • Solaris patches are available that incorporate the new Indiana time zone rules: 113225-03 for Solaris 9 and 109809-03 for Solaris 8.
  • Purdue has a good overview of what to do about the new time zone information. In particular, they provide instructions for compiling new zoneinfo files for Unix and a link to the source files to do so. I have done this for all the FreeBSD servers.

[TAIKA] Sendmail 8.13.6

I upgraded Sendmail on TAIKA to version 8.13.6 to patch a race condition vulnerability.

I downloaded tar archives of the latest ports trees for sendmail and sendmail-ldap, unpacked them in /usr/ports/mail, and then built a new sendmail-ldap port. As little has changed since the prior version, there were no problems.

[KE] Sendmail/LDAP

Sendmail on KE was updated this morning to perform LDAP routing. A new version of the sendmail package, compiled with LDAP support, replaced the previous version. The alias map was replaced with calls to LDAP, as done on both TAIKA and BARIS. This allows for a smoother transition to SIPALA as we migrate users and update the LDAP mailHost attribute.
