Theme Hall Application 2008

A “theme hall” is a chance for students to live together in an intentional community based on an academic or co-curricular theme within a residence hall. (For example 6 people in 3 double rooms on the 3rd North Hall, in Olvey-Andis called the “Phenomenal Physicists”)

Directions: Please fill out this form clearly and concisely. Use the back of this form to fill out your proposal or you may attach a separate page if you prefer. All applications are by 9:00 a.m. on Friday, February 22nd. Any application received after the deadline cannot be considered. If you have any further questions, contact the Office of Residence Life, ext. 1317.

Indicate who will be a part of the petition. 5-8+ people can be a part of the petition. (5 person for a hall in Hoerner with two doubles and one single). Theme Hall petitions to fill Norwich lodge need to have 22 people (that includes an RA) for 6 doubles and 10 singles – you may of course apply for a theme hall in Norwich Lodge with fewer people if you wish.

Please be aware that if vacancies occur on your hall after the lottery, Residence Life will attempt to contact your convener and you will be given a three business days to find an alternate, after that we will fill the space randomly.

Specifically this proposal should explain:

  • How this Theme Hall will contribute to the EC and larger Richmond Community.
  • How this Theme Hall fills a gap in the EC community.
  • How this Theme Hall will bring academic or co-curricular excitement and energy to the hall.
  • How this Theme Hall will encourage a faculty and/or departmental presence in the residence hall.
  • How this Theme Hall will welcome new residents (like first years next year) who may be unfamiliar with the Theme.
