Who should participate?
Any student who has not previously participated in a room selection process and who wishes to sign-up for a room in the residence halls. Students wishing to sign-up for a single room, 4-person (quad/suite), or individuals that wish to change rooms or buildings must participate in this process.
Who should not participate?
Any student who has already signed-up for a room as part of the College house selection or doubles renewal process. Additionally, students that received notice they had been awarded an exemption should not participate unless they wish to forfeit their exemption.
How will rooms be assigned/selected?
At check-in, students will draw their own lottery number. Your name will be recorded with this number and when the process (calling) begins, numbers/students will be called in ascending order of the drawn lottery number. Once a student’s number is called, they may select from the available rooms on campus.
I have a conflict and can not attend at the time above?
The times above are the earliest that you may participate. If you have a conflict you may come for a later time. For example, if you are a rising junior who has a conflict, you may come at the rising sophomore time, but not at the rising senior time.
What happens if I am running late and arrive after calling starts?
Check-in will start 30 minutes prior to the scheduled calling time. Actual number calling will not begin until all students waiting to check-in have registered. If you arrive after number calling begins, you will not draw a number, but instead will be called after all registered students have selected. Students that arrive after calling begins will be processed in the order of arrival.
Can a senior pull-in a sophomore (pull-ups)?
No. A student may not participate prior to their first eligible time. This helps ensure fairness and maximum choice for students with greatest seniority. While the senior can participate at the senior time period and select a bed in an open room, there is no guarantee that the remaining bed would still be available when the sophomore comes for selection at their time.
Students of the same class standing who wish to live together.
Both students should register and draw a number. You will both sign-up together under the lower (earlier called) number.
Is every room available?
Yes and No. Every room available for selection will be listed upfront as available. Rooms that are not listed are those that have been assigned via the doubles renewal, special housing request process, or set aside for new/incoming students. All other rooms and spaces will be available.
