There are changes to the Housing Selection
Process this year. These changes are designed to improve two areas
of the process: 1) To continue to reduce the negative impact the
system had on sophomores, and 2) to increase available housing
options. There are also implementation changes focused on making
the process more transparent and easier to understand. The changes
for this year’s lottery were based on ideas from students,
faculty and alums and current web-lottery survey data that students
completed during the fall semester 2003. Thank you for your input!
The goal of the Housing Selection Process is to help students
select housing for the next academic year. This goal is extremely
important as it affects the quality of your academic and personal
living experience for 10 months! Since there are changes, please
take the time to get a clear understanding of the process and available
options. Read the handbook and don’t be shy about asking
questions of the Residence Life staff. There will be information
sessions held throughout the process; be aware of these dates and
attend the sessions so that you fully understand your options.
Your housing assignment for the coming academic year is worth the
investment in reading, asking questions and attending an informational
session!
All students at Earlham College need to participate in the Housing
Selection Process. In order to assess available space on campus,
we need accurate information from all students. Even if you are
eligible for or want an exemption from campus housing, we need
you to communicate with the Office of Residence Life. As you navigate
through the process, look out for each other. Please share information
with us if there is a problem or someone needs support.
If you have any questions about the process, feel free to call
the Office of Residence Life at x1317 or check out the Residence
Life web page which includes Housing Selection info: http://legacy.earlham.edu/~sas/reslife/hs.html
