Collection of Works By and About
James Branch Cabell

This collection is for sale. I've made this web page in order to describe the collection to eBay users, but I'd be happy to consider an offer from anyone who might be interested. I will only consider offers for the entire collection. Send questions and offers to Peter Suber at peters@earlham.edu.

I started collecting Cabelliana about 35 years ago, and essentially stopped about 15 years ago. This catalog was about 99% accurate 15 years ago when I stopped keeping it up to date. But I've since added and sold a few pieces. I can say that it is now at least 95% accurate, but I understand that I'll have to verify it before any sale is final. There are also a few works that I'd like to remove from the catalog and retain, though I'm still deciding what these are.

I'm embarrassed to say that when I was a teenaged book collecter too young to know better I signed about a dozen of these volumes. I haven't had time to do a new inventory and make an exact count, but the number of affected volumes is not large. Some of the Storisende volumes are affected.

While I have some Storisende volumes, I don't have a complete set of the Storisende edition. Moreover, the volumes I do have are not all from the same set. There are some very valuable items in this collection and some very unvaluable items (paperbacks, photocopies). I don't pretend that they all belong to the same price category, only that they are all by or about JBC.

In the 1970's I wrote a short (approx. 50 pp.) biography of Cabell. I'm now rekeying it in order to put it online. I'll throw in a signed printout for the buyer of this collection. I can also sign the cover of the issue of Kalki on which my portrait of Cabell was reproduced, but I haven't done so yet and will wait to learn the buyer's wishes on this.

Within each category of books by JBC (sections 1 and 2), works are listed alphabetically by title; within other categories works are listed alphabetically by author.

Works of the same title are in no particular order. If I have time, I'll group them by type.
