Portal of OA-related projects at the U of Michigan

Open.Michigan is a new portal of OA-related projects at the University of Michigan.  Also see its blog and wiki.  From the about page:

The Open.Michigan site is a gateway to a wide spectrum of initiatives at the University of Michigan (U-M) and our collaborating institutions. With a common goal of opening resources for teaching, learning and research for use and enhancement by a global community, these projects increase the value of those resources to U-M and the world. Open.Michigan provides a clear view of the many places and ways U-M contributes to our world's knowledge and creates exemplary resources for education and research.

Open.Michigan includes information, updates, discussion, blogs, videos, and podcasts detailing our efforts. You will also find links to projects in open educational resources (OERs) such as the U-M Health Sciences Global Access project and the dScribe project; in open source software, the Sakai and SiteMaker projects; in open archives and publishing, Deep Blue, digitalculturebooks, MBooks, and OAIster projects; and in open standards, the IMS Global Learning Consortium work and conferences.

Open.Michigan is part of an emerging paradigm for participatory education on a global scale, where a wide array of contributors add to and build upon the open knowledge commons....This open view of the U-M scholarly community can help enrich our own experiences for the development, use, and sharing of knowledge....

Comment.  This is a great idea.  It reminds insiders and outsiders alike of the school's many commitments to openness, reminds us of the relatedness of related projects (in open research, open software, open education, and open standards), and reminds us that universities are in the knowledge discovery and sharing business, not the knowledge lock-down and commodification business.
