JISC has announced a program to fund four studies of scholarly communication:
Terms of Reference: Guide on Scholarly Publishing Trends
Terms of Reference: Learned Society Open Access Business Models
Terms of Reference: Disciplinary Differences and Needs
Terms of Reference: Open Access Citation Information
From the announcement: 'Up to £20,000 is available for the first study, and up to £30,000 for studies 2), 3) and 4). This funding includes any expenses and applicable VAT. The deadline for proposals is 13:00 hours on Tuesday 8th February 2005. Projects should begin by the beginning of April 2005 at the latest and complete by Monday 4th July 2005.' I recommend the OA tracking project (OATP) as the best way to stay on top of new OA developments. You can read the OATP feed on a blog-like web page or subscribe to it by RSS, email, or Twitter. You can also help build the feed by tagging new developments you encounter.
