Project suggestions
-
Do not copy chunks of text from a web site and paste them in without any attribution - this is called plagiarism and I can easily detect it.
-
You can paste in text that you want to quote — use the <blockquote> tag to quote the text. Then use a superscripted link to jump to the reference list with hypertext URL to the source (as we practiced on the rugby page).
-
If you have a small chunk of text to quote you can use quote marks, “ and ” around the text. Find these in the Characters tab on the Insert bar. Quoted text must be referenced.
-
Do make use of all the html tags that we have covered in class. Consider reading the Castro book to discover other tags that might be useful.
-
Do make use of all the attributes that we have covered on the graphic image(s) you employ in your page. Be liberal with your use of the title = "..." attribute to explain graphics and links.
-
Do spell check your draught. Select Text —> Check Spelling.
-
For heaven's sake
read this article called Caffeinate Your Hypertext on the sitepoint site. Basically, it concerns how to write for the web and especially how to incorporate hypertext links sensibly into the text that you write.
Without wanting to blow my own trumpet too much, you can get a good idea of what this looks like from my “all you ever wanted to know about blogs but were afraid to ask ... ” site.
