Working on the slow Banner printing issue.
My theory is that the PCL that the ec-lp script produces from Banner jobs and sends to the printers is confusing the printers just slightly, since everything else that we send is PostScript. My plan at the moment is to replace the current ec-lp with something that runs enscript and sends the PostScript to the printer rather than PCL. I’ve been trying to match the PCL output to similar output from the enscript program with some success, but it’s a long process. I can get pretty close to exact match on some things, but on others it gets harder, since enscript doesn’t have options for inter-character spacing and the line spacing is handled differently than in PCL.
