Earlham’s rank of 26th among all institutions for all disciplines during the 1991-2000 time period is most impressive.  At the time of the last Baccalaureate Origins Report published in 1998 Earlham was ranked 23rd.  You will note that Earlham's rank in this report shows 26th for that same time period (1986-1995).  The discrepancy is due to a slightly different universe of institutions.  Two of our overlap schools (Oberlin and Grinnell) are ranked better than Earlham; however, we are ranked better than most of the Great Lakes Colleges Association (GLCA) schools.

Earlham’s ratio of doctorate origins to baccalaureate completions shows a slight improvement over the last 30 years.  The ratio for women shows a significant improvement.  Details of these ratios are shown in Appendix  A.  Also shown in Appendix A are rankings among GLCA and overlap schools (15 total) for the 1991-2000 time period.  When comparing Earlham with these schools, we rank 4th in all disciplines.  Other impressive rankings include Life Sciences (2nd), Earth Sciences (2nd), and Biological Sciences (2nd).
