Diversity at Earlham Diversity Vision Statement A Diversity Aspirations Vision Statement was approved during spring 2002 by Faculty, Student Government, Employee Council and the Board of Trustees. Diversity Plan A Diversity Plan was adopted in the spring of 2002. The Faculty, Student Government, Employee Council and Board of Trustees endorsed the spirit of the plan, which calls for work along five distinct but related avenues:
The plan also calls for the creation of a Diversity Progress Committee to see that we continue to make progress and keep faith with our commitment. The Faculty, Student Government, Employee Council and Board of Trustees have endorsed the spirit of the plan. To see the full text of the plan, link here. Community Work on Diversity In Fall 2000, a Diversity Aspirations Working Group was named and charged by President Doug Bennett to "develop for us a plan for making Earlham College a more diverse community." The charge of this group is also expressed in Doug Bennett's 1998 Inaugural Address, and the Office of Diversity Home Page. Committee membership in 2001-02 included Len Clark (convenor), Maria Morgan, Caroline Higgins, Margaret Hampton, Shenita Piper, Barbara Cullimore, Marjorie Trueblood, and Alisa Damholt. Kirsten Bohl provided staff support for the committee. The charge of the Diversity Aspirations Working Group is complete. In the interim while a Diversity Progress Committee is appointed, comments and suggestions about diversity may be sent to diversity@earlham.edu. The working group has also forwarded a copy of its report to the Strategic Planning Committee, which is working on setting future priorities for the college. |
