Quakers fall to Denison in overtime

RICHMOND, Ind. — The Earlham
men’s soccer team battled back on Tuesday, but the Quakers
surrendered an overtime goal that gave Denison University a 3-2 victory
on Matlack Field.
Trailing by a goal, Nhlanhla Maduna (Ezulwini,
Swaziland/Li Po Chun) tied the North Coast Athletic Conference
match at 1-1 at 6:49 with
an
assist from Atiq Zamani (Bloomington,
IN/North).
Denison eventually led 2-1 at intermission.
In the second half,
Behar Xharra (Gjakove, Kosovo/Rabin County) found the net at 72:31
with assists from Jacob O’Brien
(Logansport, IN/Logansport) and Victor Anciano (San
Antonio-Altos, Venezuela/Armand Hammer).
Denison out shot Earlham16-13 and junior goalkeeper
Jon O’Neil (West Lafayette, IN/West Lafayette) had eight
saves for the Quakers.
Earlham (4-11-2, 1-5-2) entertains Oberlin
College Saturday in a homecoming contest on Matlack Field.
