11, 2004 Article I: Name and Purpose
Section 1: Name of the proposed organization
Brimley’s (named after Wilfred Brimley,
the actor in old Quaker Oats commercials)
Section 2: Organization mission
Brimley’s provides acapella music
to campus in a variety of forms, including study breaks, dorm
tours, singing valentines and concerts. The group is frequently
invited to sing at college functions such as prospective student lunches and
midnight breakfast. Students in the group are responsible for all parts of
the creative process, from arranging to directing and performing. Auditions
for this talented, goofy group are held at the beginning of each semester.
Section 3: Reason for forming organization
Brimley’s provides an opportunity
for students to arrange, direct and perform music autonomously
while simultaneously
filling the niche of acapella
entertainment on campus.
Section 4: Long term goals of organization
Brimley’s hopes to continue providing
high quality acapella music for the campus while challenging
group members through
such projects as CD recording.
Article II: Membership
Section 1: Requirements for membership
Auditions are open to all students at the beginning of each semester. Decisions
are made based upon musical ability and group balance.
Section 2: Number of members
The group can accommodate 13-18 members.
Article III: Officers and/or leaders
Section 1: Leadership positions
One convenor provides leadership for the group.
Section 2: Duties of officers
The convenor serves as a contact person for the group, runs rehearsals, plans
concerts and manages group funds. S/he can also delegate these tasks to other
members of the group.
Article IV: Selection of Officers
Section 1: Type of selection
The convenor is selected by consensus.
Article V: Meetings
Brimley’s holds two, one and a half hour
rehearsals each week. Time is used to rehearse music and make group
decisions.
Article VI: Amendments and By-laws
Section 1: Provisions for amending the constitution
This document may be modified after a consensus process involving current group
members.
Article VII: Faculty Advisor
Rich Dornberger will serve as our faculty advisor.
