GeoRef
Indexes and abstracts worldwide literature on geology and geophysics, 1785 to present.

GeoScienceWorld
Full text of over 30 journals in the geosciences dating back to the mid-1970s for most journals.

General Science Abstracts
Indexes periodicals on astronomy, biology, chemistry, earth sciences, math, medicine, and physics, 1983 to present. Earlham subscribes to almost all of the content, either as online full text or as print journal.

Science Citation Index (via Web of Science)
Keyword and citation indexing of major journals across scientific disciplines, 1981 to present. Web of Science also includes Arts & Humanities Citation Index and Social Sciences Citation Index.

JSTOR
Full text of hundreds of scholarly journals in all disciplines dating back to the 1700s. Archival, rather than current: coverage stop 3-5 years from the present.

Academic Search Premier
Comprehensive index to scholarly journals and general periodicals in all subject and interdisciplinary areas, including full text. Coverage prior to 1990 is sparse.

 

Online Full Text Journal Collections

Annual Reviews
Comprehensive scholarly review articles for all the sciences plus other academic disciplines. Some full text articles. The other articles can be read by consulting the print volumes which are classified as books. Use the library catalog to look up the call number for the relevant Annual Review series.

Dictionary of Units
Provides a summary of most of the units of measurement in use today, along with the appropriate conversions needed to change them into standard units of the SI system. Includes access to 40 different calculators for automatic conversions, and a printable pocket guide listing the most common conversion units.

NWISWeb data for the nation
Provides access to water-resources data collected at approximately 1.5 million sites in all 50 States, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico. Includes real-time data for current conditions, and data on surface water, groundwater, and water quality.

Water resources of the United States
A compilation of links to USGS water-related publications of all types, from general to scientific. Under each category of publication is a list of all of the items published in that category; many have links to PDF full text, and some have additional links to data sets.

USGS National Water-Quality Assessment Program
Provides an up-to-date assessment of US water quality and supply. Provides information on the condition, fate, and impact of human activity and natural forces on the 50 river basins across the US.

Intute: Science, Engineering & Technology: Earth Sciences
Provides free access to high quality earth sciences resources on the Internet. Each resource has been evaluated and categorised by subject specialists based at UK universities. Covers subjects including Petrology, Sedimentology, Hydrology, Geochemistry, Geophysics, and Volcaones.

Mineralogy Database
Contains over 4,400 individual mineral species descriptions with links and a comprehensive image library.

Describes the science behind volcanoes and volcanic processes.

Globalchange.gov
Provides data, research, news and publications addressing global change issues from eight different US agencies.

Global Change Master Directory
Find links to and descriptions of over 19,000 data sets and data services covering a variety of topics including agriculture, atmosphere, climate indicators, land surface, oceans and other topics in geoscience, life sciences, and environmental science.

Encyclopedia of Earth
A reference about the Earth, its natural environments, and their interaction with society. Provides a free, fully searchable collection of articles written in non-technical language by scholars, professionals, educators, and experts who collaborate and review each other's work.

Marine realms information bank
Access to free online scientific information about oceans, coasts, and coastal watersheds

National Snow and Ice Data Center (NSIDC)
Provides access to cryospheric research and data, "the snow, ice, glacier, frozen ground, and climate interactions that make up Earth's cryosphere."

Earth science world
Provides links to a library of over 4,000 high-quality geoscience images, an interactive geological time scale, and information on careers in geoscience.

Ocean World
Provides resource links for those interested in oceanography. Topics include waves, weather, currents, fisheries, and coral reefs, among others.

OceanPortal
A high-level directory of Ocean Data and Information related web sites.

This Dynamic Planet
Interactive World Map of Volcanoes, Earthquakes, Impact Craters, and Plate Tectonics

Scitopia.org
Serves as an online gateway to the published scholarly research, patents, and government documents of 15 affliated societies in teh fields of physics, mathematics, engineering, and geosciences. Searching of abstracts is free, but a password or payment is required to view articles.
