New Update for Spring Semester 2008
During the break we have been working behind the scenes to try to streamline the recycling process. Here are some updates:
1. Residence Halls: Recycling in residence halls will be handled by the housekeeping team, except for newspapers, these will be handled by the student recycling team unless there is an Indianapolis Star stand in place.
2. Academic/administrative buildings: The housekeeping team will handle office paper, and the student recycling team will handle commingled items (cans, glass and plastic) and newspapers, unless there is an Indianapolis Star stand in place. Items to be recycled should be placed in centralized containers - the students do not have the ability to enter every office.
3. Recycling dumpsters: There are blue recycling dumpsters located throughout campus (usually associated with parking lots). These containers are for plastic, glass and cans (commingled items) and paper (paper means office paper, no cardboard and no newspapers). The Earlham community is encouraged to utilize these containers. Please remember that these containers are not for newspaper or cardboard. Newspapers can be recycled at the Grounds building. Loose cardboard is not picked up by the City of Richmond. There is one location for cardboard, at the Grounds building beside the baler. Place cardboard in dumpster provided. Cardboard boxes must be flattened and only "brown" cardboard is acceptable - no mega-staples.
4. Recycling brochure: You should have received a recycling brochure through campus mail, if you did not receive one, please drop me an email with your drawer number and we'd be delighted to send you one (or more). If you would like a recycling poster, let me know!
Remember that recycling is a voluntary program and we encourage your participation.
Have a great semester,
Alan
